IPL, the Indian Premier League has given away many memorable moments to remember. From Rajasthan Royals being the first Champion, to Mumbai Indians being back to back Champions, from matches to be held in South Africa to matches held in UAE, this glamourous tournament has been the talking point throughout the globe every year when it takes place, by all means it will retain the same prestige for the IPL 2021 which is set to resume its second phase on September 19 in UAE. As the 2021 IPLsecond leg is knocking at the door, fans are engaged with lots of speculations, who is going to bring the trophy home? During his days as a Batsman, the ones he made his arch rivals were the Australian players and Ricky Ponting was one of them. Sachin Tendulkar up against Ricky Ponting, and India up against Australia were the story of every mouth watering fixture. Thanks to IPL, the world has seen these two man changing sides and teamed up together. Sharing the same dressing room in Mumbai Indians, the two veterans padded up to bat for the Mumbai based team was a treat to watch for all the cricket fans all over the world.

#4. Matthew Hayden’s Mongoose Bat

Now in the fourth place we have Matthew Hayden’s peculiar bat. Back in 2010, Australian batsman Matthew Hayden used to play for Chennai Super Kings. During the 2010 season against Delhi Daredevils, Hayden came up to the crease with an unique bat. Everyone was surprised with the size of the bat as it was peculiar to look at which had a longer handle and a short but bulky base. The bat was not only odd too look at, it was explosive too. Hayden made a blistering 93 runs off 43 balls and it was one of the best knock in IPL from the Australian opener.

#3. Chris Gayle’s 175 runs.

Up in the third place we have RCB’s Chris Gayle and his 175 runs. Chris Gayle and explosive batting goes hand in hand and there can’t be any other example of him throwing balls out of park than the day of April 23, 2013. This was when the big Caribbean made 175 runs with 17 sixes altogether. This is still the highest individual score by a batsman in IPL and Royal Challengers Bangalore scored an impressive 263/5 in that innings and this is the highest team score in IPL too. This remains the highest individual score by a batsman in the IPL. Brendon McCullum’s 158 from the first IPL season is the second entry on this list. Gayle also made another record of fastest century in IPL in just 30 balls.

#2. Harbhajan-Sreesanth Spat

In the second place we have Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and pacer S Sreesanth’s fight. The IPL has seen plenty of battles so far in the thirteen seasons. Here in this incident Harbhajan was playing for Mumbai Indians back in 2008 and S Sreesanth was playing for the Kings XI Punjab outfit. During their match, Sreesanth was spotted crying after the incident as he didn’t have any part in it, the only words that were exchanged are Sreesanth while shaking his hands said to him “hard luck” which lead to the anger and then Harbhajan slapped the bowler for no reason. Harbhajan was later banned from the remaining IPL match of the year 2008.

#1. Brendon McCullum’s Opening Ton

Now finally in the top spot we have Brendon McCullum’s 158 again RCB. It was the very first match of IPL and what a way to start off the tournament. With two of the most glamorous sides Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on each other with Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid as captains of each teams and what a way to start the business. The high end glamour of Shah Rukh Khan’s team vs Business tycoon Vijay Mallya’s team taking on each other and the opportunity was well utilised by none other than Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum. The hard hitter New Zealander made an impressive 158 runs off just 73 balls. The innings had 10 fours and 13 sixes and Kolkata Knight Riders banked of McCullum to impose a total of 200/7 at the end of 20 overs.
