Who Will Pick Up the Euro 2021 Golden Boot?

golden boot winner 2021

The Euro 2020 will be upon us soon, and football fans couldn’t be more excited. The race for the European trophy will finally begin after a year of uncertainty. We finally have confirmation that the tournament will be underway and with fans in most arenas. Held in 12 different cities across Europe, Euro 2021 will surely be a tournament to remember.

Even before UEFA confirmed that the tournament will take place in 2021, bookies have had winner markets and odds up. As the date grew close, new markets popped up. From group winners to teams to qualify, Euro 2020 bets are not lacking in any regard. Just like early Champions League odds, the odds for Euro 2020 are already up, including one particular market that delights all football fans – the race for the Golden Boot.

Labeled as Top Goalscorer at most bookies, this exciting market gives you a chance to bet on the players you believe will score most goals in the tournament. It’s a market that doesn’t rely on team wins – even the weakest team can have the best scorer in the tournament. Of course, that’s not always the case, but who knows?

Below you can find the top players that are expected to bag the most goals in the upcoming Euros.

Harry Kane

The lethal English captain is leading the field at all bookies. Tottenham’s deadly strike has been identified as the top favorite for the Golden Boot award. That’s impressive for a player who hasn’t scored a single Euros goal so far, although, to be fair, he was the Golden Boot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with 6 goals.

A lot is expected from England at the Euro 2020, and those expectations depend a lot on Harry Kane’s goalscoring form. He certainly has the quality to top the charts and has excellent teammates that can feed him with usable balls. If you bet on football regularly, you know that Kane is a great lock for the Golden Boot at the Euros.

Kylian Mbappe

French youngster Kylian Mbappe is the hottest player in the world right now, a position he shares with Dortmund’s Haaland. He was in fine form at the World Cup in 2018 and had scored loads of important goals for Paris Saint Germain since then. Experts believe that his great run of form will continue at the Euros, where he’s the second Golden Boot favorite next to Harry Kane.

Many believe that France is the top favorite for the trophy. They certainly have the chance if Griezmann and Mbappe perform to the best of their abilities. Mbappe’s pace is unmatched, and he has a lot of special moves in his bag of tricks as well. Some will say that the fact that he’s younger makes him a better choice than Kane since he’s more eager to score goals and prove himself.

We’re not sure he needs more proving after the World Cup, but still, that might be a reason to reconsider your choices.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The ever-present Cristiano Ronaldo shows no sign of stopping even in his 36 year of age. He’s joint-top scorer at the Euros together with the great Michel Platini, and breaking that record of 9 goals is almost a certainty at the upcoming Euros.

He only needs to score one goal to get to the count of 10 with no one really close. Of course, Griezmann is close to breaking that record, but he needs at least 4 goals, so Ronaldo is closer. It will be yet another record in the Portuguese’s stellar career, and one he can certainly be proud of.

Romelu Lukaku

The Belgium forward has had a great few seasons in Inter and he’s always putting in over 100% of his abilities when playing for the national side. Lukaku is one of the top-5 favorites for the Golden Boot, lagging a bit behind Cristiano Ronaldo at the bookies.

He’s a powerful striker with even more powerful shots that can bag loads of goals. If Belgium is to make a deep run in the tournament as expected, Lukaku will undoubtedly be the force behind it.

Antoine Griezmann

The second French striker on this list, Antoine Griezmann is a big favorite to lead the list of top scorers at the Euro 2020. He was the top scorer in 2016 when France lost to Portugal in the final. It was his sole Euros appearance, but the Barcelona forward made the most out of it, coming just 3 goals shy of his compatriot’s (Platini) record of 9.

While Ronaldo is the favorite to break the all-time top goalscoring record, Griezmann has set sights on it as well. He scored 6 goals the last time, and he has the quality to score that much or more this summer too.
